We are home. I may be asleep by 10 tonight, or up until 3. It’s hard to say.

Sara picked up a St. Louis guide at a rest stop. We chose the Moonrise Hotel, a new-ish place near a park, a university and a strip of entertainment. Fitting?
We plan to do a bit of site-seeing in the morning, then head on home for a weekend of laundry, photo evaluation, and sleep.
UPDATE: “Site-seeing”? Yes, I was drunk.

Our guidebook says that the Cadillac Ranch is 200 yards south of I-40 at the Hope Road exit in Amarillo, Texas. That’s probably true, but we missed it. It was getting dark, though, and photography would have been difficult, so we kept going. Bummer. But let’s keep in mind today’s primary goal: not stopping in Texas. Mission accomplished.
Photo is from a shop in Santa Fe, where our good friend Stephen lives. He was our host last night and this morning, showing us a horribly good time. We’ll go back there.
Home tonight is Elk City, Oklahoma. Should be home at a decent time on Friday, just in time to relax for the weekend. I’ll do updates and additions then.

Welcome to Oatman, Arizona. Home of wild burros and the other jackasses who advertise that they carry guns.
We have wi-fi after all tonight, but there will be no photo update. Too many to go through and we’re trying to get an early start tomorrow. Turns out I love to sleep late, even on a driving vacation, so I’m going to try to sleep tonight rather than in the morning. Good luck to me.

A short drive today made longer by several stops, including Bakersfield, Tehachapi and Barstow, our home for the night and one of the strangest places I’ve ever been. Tomorrow we try for Route 66. I’m nursing a minor injury — don’t ask — so the photo update may be delayed until tomorrow. Ouch.
Update: Added a few photos from today. Still ouch though.
